Creating Memorable Wedding Details

How to Create Memorable Wedding Details
By: La Belle Fleur Events

When it comes to planning your wedding, one of the aspects we talk about with our couples is how to make the wedding feel and look like them.

When you start your planning, it’s important to think about a few different elements: How do you want it to feel? What words come to mind when you think of the ambiance of the event? What do you imagine guests wearing?

I like having this conversation with my own fiancee over dinner (maybe with a glass of wine!) since it’s a time when we don’t feel the  pressure to “wedding plan.”

The feel of the event will come into play when you’re choosing the time of year to host your wedding as well as choosing the venue.

After you have those two big steps out of the way, you can start to delve more into the fun details of the event. I love asking myself as well as our couples a few questions to help get the process started:

  • How did you meet?
  • What was your first date like?
  • What do you love most about the other person?
  • What is the one thing you love to do with one another? Make sure to think about it from both perspectives since you might have different ideas of fun.
  • What hobbies do you enjoy doing together?
  • What do you like to eat and drink?
  • Where do you shop for your clothes?
  • How do you want to feel on your wedding day?
  • How do you want guests to feel on your wedding day?

Once you begin asking yourself those questions, think about how those can play a part in the overall look and feel of the wedding. We have a client that had the sweetest love story that we thought would be perfect to share on their save the date.

Another one of our clients loves biking, and fell in love on a biking trip in Switzerland, so it only made sense to incorporate a vintage bike into their wedding.

In addition to the wedding day details, think about how food and drinks play apart in your daily lives. Incorporate foods you love, and drinks you can’t live without because they are true representation of who you two are as a couple. Do all your friends know you love bacon? Host an assorted bacon bar during your cocktail hour! Honestly, the options are endless.

Most importantly, I urge you to keep in mind the uniqueness of your wedding. It’s easy to get caught up in the beautiful elements we see in magazines and blogs, but always bring it back to you as a couple. No two weddings should or will look the same, and you want your guests to walk away saying that was definitely “Sarah and Mike’s” wedding!
