Destination Wedding Photographer
Six months ago exactly, I was sitting in solitude on a beach in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I was not suppose to be there. You see, I flew out there to shoot my first destination wedding. Against all odds and a LOT of snow, I somehow made it to Mexico without any trouble. The wedding went smoothly and I didn't have a care in the world. After an extra day or two spent at the beach, I was all set to return home to Chicago. Cue Polar Vortex.
To my greatest disappointment, my flight home ended up being canceled, leaving me "stranded" in paradise for 5 extra days. I know, it's a really tough life. So, after stressing about it for like 5 minutes, I grabbed myself a fruity drink with an umbrella and decided to try to make the most out of the unexpected vacation.
It was just me and my camera, so in the midst of my busy tanning schedule, I made time to create photographs of the beautiful beach at Garza Blanca Preserve. It took me this long to finally go through them, but I'm glad I did. I'm not sure that I'll ever be a National Geographic photographer, but I really love making photos for myself. It's my small attempt at art and self expression.
I had no idea how much I could use a vacation until it just happened to me. It ended it up being exactly what I needed. During my stay, I decided that getting away for some R&R should be an annual occurrence. With 6 months to go, I'm starting to dream about where to venture to next. I'll be finishing the 2014 year in Nicaragua for another destination wedding, and I'm planning on using that as a jumping off point for my getaway. I'd love to hear about any of your favorite vacation destinations! Feel free to share.
